FAQs

What wax do you use in your candles?

At Ocean Sands Collective we use only the highest quality natural, soy wax in our candles. In addition to this, we use lead-free cotton wicks which helps to ensure a longer, cleaner and environmentally friendly burn.

We use a natural, soy wax in our candles to ensure no chemicals, toxins, pollutants and are less likely to trigger any allergise.  Soy wax tends to last longer than paraffin wax candles as they burn cooler.

Why are there not the same fragrances available in candles and diffusers?

Each of our fragrances is designed to suit a particular product and not all fragrances perform at optimal level in the complimentary product. We are not comfortable release fragrances in a particular product to simply match another if it does not meet our high product quality standards.

Can I buy candle and diffuser refills?

Unfortunately, we are not able to offer refills on our candles or diffusers. However, when you finish with you candle or diffuser rinse it out with warm water and reuse it around the house!

Why is my diffuser liquid discoloured?

Our fragrance diffusers oxidise when they are opened in addition to the colour tint of particular fragrances.

Are any of your products tested on animals?

Ocean Sands Collective do not test any part of our products on animals and all of our products are sourced locally and responsibly.

Why is the inside of my jar have black residue around it?

This occurs when a wick is left too long and soot builds up as a result. It is important to always have a trimmed wick to 7mm when burning your candle as it ensures a cleaner, longer lasting burn. You should trim your wick between each burn or if the candle has been burning continuously for two or more hours.

To remove the black residue simply wipe off with a damp towel or cloth.

Are your products vegan friendly?

All of our products except our bath milks are considered vegan friendly. All of our products are free of any parabens, chemicals or PEGs.

Our bath milks contain goats milk powder and would not be suitable for vegan use.
